Funding for early stage and start-up businesses

If you're an early stage or start-up business looking for funding don't miss this special event. Funding experts and experienced investors have been brought together to explain the key developments in today's funding market.

Jenny Tooth, Director of Angel Capital Group which incorporates London Business Angels, has over 20 years experience of working with finance for SMEs. She will be on hand to provide a detailed overview of angel investing; what are the opportunities and challenges for early stage and start-ups to access angel finance and the key steps you need to take so that you attract investment.

Topics will include how the Government’s new Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) initiative will work in real life, to offer you more options to raise start-up finance. SEIS will offer angel investors up to 50% tax breaks for a total of £100k invested in start-ups and each start-up that meets the criteria can receive up £150k equity investment under this scheme.

Individual angel investors will also speak about what they are looking for when investing in early stage and start-up businesses to help you perfect your pitches.

You will also have a chance to hear about some of the new initiatives emerging alongside mainstream Angel finance, including crown funding and market invoicing and emerging new group, Next Generation Finance, who are co-ordinating information and access to non-bank sources of finance in London.

The event will be very interactive, with time for questions to let you review the potential for your business to attract funding and investment. You will also have the chance to put your business idea forward to London Business Angels both on the night and in the Business & IP Centre.
